Mgr. Vladimír Uhde
Experience, Legal Specialization: Vladimír Uhde is a partner at BBH and co-head of the litigation department. He focuses on commercial litigation, arbitration, dispute resolution and restructuring. He also has extensive experience in insurance and media law. He has coordinated legal proceedings for and against parties residing in various jurisdictions throughout the Czech Republic. Additionally, he has considerable experience in international arbitration proceedings, both institutional and ad hoc. Over the course of his career, Mr. Uhde has advised numerous domestic and foreign investors on the completion of major business acquisitions in various countries including the Czech and Slovak Republics, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Mr. Uhde provided legal advisory services for ČEZ a.s., the largest energy concern in the Czech Republic, including a recent acquisition in a volume exceeding USD 1.4 bil., being the largest ever single investment of a Czech company abroad. He also successfully served as legal counsel in a dispute of a Czech industrial company against ČEZ in respect of a claim exceeding USD 19,000,000 connected to the construction of the first fluid steam generator in the Czech Republic. Mr. Uhde also acted as legal counsel to the TV Nova Group and the PPF Group, its original owner, in providing legal services throughout the complex corporate restructuring of TV NOVA GROUP (the largest private Czech television broadcaster). Subsequently, he advised PPF Group in the sale of TV Nova Group and its assets to Central European Media Enterprises, LTD. The published deal size was CZK 15,000,000,000.00, i.e. approx USD 640,000,000.00, which was announced to be the largest ever US investment in the Czech Republic. Mr. Uhde represented Czech investors in an UNCITRAL dispute, the value of which exceeded EUR 800 million and real estate developer in an arbitration arising from the construction contract, the value of dispute being EUR 31.8 million. In addition to this, he leads several significant disputes on behalf of both Czech and foreign entities. These cases are to be heard not only in domestic courts, but also in significant foreign ones such as the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Mr. Uhde also acts as an arbitrator of the Prague Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic and he is a member of the Young International Arbitration Group at the London Court of International Arbitration. He lectured at the conference on the theme arbitration proceedings. Vladimír Uhde joined BBH in 2000. He graduated from the law faculty of Charles University in Prague in 1998 and is currently a member of the Czech Bar Association.
